Your Dog and Winter
Dogs have been working their entire existence before becoming humanized, Before human interaction, they hunted, herded livestock, provided protection and spent most of their waking hours scavenging and hunting for food, caring for offspring, defending territory and playing with each other, They have also lead a busy, complex lives interacting socially and solving simple problems necessary for their survival.
Today their most common job for our companions is being a "couch potato" waiting for our return home. We as humans are selfish in nature and do not normally take into our dogs needs. We naturally tie into an emotional status and attempt human communication with our pets. This is so damaging to our best friend. We need to stop putting our needs in front of our dogs needs. Would you have your 5 year old child on the couch in front of the television for 8 or more more hours until we came hoe from work and then tell them to go outside for 5 minutes to go to the bathroom with little physical activity. I think not... Another problem digs face because of lack of exercise and a lack of opportunity to burn their excess energy. Just because you have a yard, does not mean they are getting the exercise needed to keep a healthy mind and body.
Dogs need interaction with their human counterparts to insure a social and physical structure to remain in sound mind. So, it is a must to spend quality time and exercise with their pack leader.
Things that can happen if you do not provide the above mentioned exercise, especially in the Winter:
Destructive chewing, digging or scratching
Fear, anxiety, insecurity, no confidence, separation anxiety, nervousness and many more
All these issues lead to aggression, then biting other dogs or humans. Most humans don't like to be in the cold and exercising their dogs. Well, too bad... Either make it part of your life or get someone who can, friend, relative or a service for dog exercise.
If you are unable to provide the proper exercise for your dog(s), we here at Big Bear Canine School can... We have an exercise program that will pick up your dog at your house twice a week and you may come to Saturdays group class for social interaction for your dog to assist in healing insecurity, fear, anxiety and aggression issues. This helps build your dogs self confidence, which helps give your dog a fruitful and enjoyable life with the pack leaders.
We have a program for one or more dogs in the household with discounts for more than one dog. We try our best to work with each family financially, due to the economic conditions that still persist for many families today.
Do something right for your dog today, get of the couch or call us,,,
